And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
Matthew 25:40 NKJV
I owe Albany Helping Hands so much. They have given me more than just a place to stay and a job. They have reminded me that even though I made mistakes in my life, I am still worthy of love and acceptance. They have shown me God’s loving forgiveness and been a constant reminder of His Love. It is my honor to now be a part of this team and pay it forward to others as they move through their journey.
David was born into a family that consisted of an alcoholic mom and a convict dad. He spent time in and out of foster care and on and off the streets. He got involved in drugs and was addicted to meth and marijuana and alcohol for ten years before God got a hold of him and delivered him from that addiction. After receiving salvation, God allowed David to share his faith and lead many people to Christ in different jobs and workplaces. This position has enabled David to give back to the homeless community to receive what he did not as a homeless child and to reach the lost for Jesus Christ.
After arriving at AHH struggling with addiction and jail time, I found hope through the Ideal Options Program, achieving sobriety in one year. With AHH’s support, I rebuilt family ties, paid fines, got off parole, earned a driver’s license and job, and improved my health. Their help also enabled me to give back, transforming my life with a bright future ahead.
